PROBLEMS WITH ADULT ADVERTISEMENTS

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ADULT ADVERTISEMENTS - THEY CAN CARRY VIRUSES AND HARM YOUR PC

Although they may seem harmless - "Adult Advertisements" (Even one's meant for dating or meeting people) can be harmful, carrying viruses, spyware and programed to create popups on your PC with or without having to click on anything... No - you won't really catch this by simply "being" on a page that has such ads... You pretty much have to actually click on those kinds of ads to get contaminated in most cases. However, sometimes - there are dangerous "scripts" that can be used to infect your PC... And those scripts get into your computer WITH OR WITHOUT clicking on anything!!!! JUST BEING ON A WEB PAGE ALLOWS SCRIPTS INTO YOUR PC!!!! NOW HOW IN THE WORLD ARE YOU GOING TO AVOID THE "BAD SCRIPTS"?????

Well, if you are a Firefox Browser user - just by using Firefox, you've already begun the protection process as Firefox provides better online protection. BUT.... If you have Firefox and also wish to take 100% control over which scripts you want to allow into your PC and which scripts you want to keep out... Then you have 2 choices:

#1. You can go to our website at this address: http://www.ig-headquarters.com/pcdownloadspg2.htm
. Once you have reached that webpage, scroll down to the section that allows you to download Firefox Extensions and download and install a program called "No Script 1.1.6.12" ..............

#2. or - you may try downloading right from here, just below:

===================================================================================================================================================================
NoScript 1.1.6.12https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

Winner of the "2006 PC World World Class Award", this tool provides extra protection to your Firefox. It allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content to run only from trusted domains of your choice, e.g. your home-banking web site, and guards the "trust  boundaries" against cross-site scripting attacks (XSS). Such a preemptive approach prevents exploitation of security vulnerabilities (known and even unknown!) with no loss of functionality... Experts do agree: Firefox is really safer with NoScript ;-) Works with:     * Firefox Firefox: 1.5 – 3.0a8 Developer Comments:  Since this is not a support forum, you won't receive any help here, while your question will likely disappear. Version 1.1.6.12 — July 31, 2007 — 201 KB    Full changelog at http://noscript.net/changelog

The more you use it - the more you don't have to set it.... If you are not certain what scripts to allow - then choose them "temporarily" or not at all.

Another means of protection online is by using the free program called "WOT"... Be WARNED of trouble BEFORE it happens.... You can find "WOT" on our home page where you may read more about it and even use the download link to start using it. If while using WOT, you are warned of a website you are trying to visit and they have a certifications stamp - then let the decision be yours as to staying or leaving. Because of the fact when a website is certified, you can rest easier knowing it is certified safe and that you have the ability to contact the company that owns the site any time you need to talk to them. Certification also gives you proof that they can be contacted. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WOT

HOW CAN WE TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LINKS THAT HAVE ADULT RELATED ADVERTISING AND LINKS THAT DO NOT?

Due to toolbar user's responses and requests, it appears that a few sites of the 150 or so "Free TV / Movie" websites have been using "ADULT ADVERTISEMENTS" on their websites. No.... We do not mean that there is actual nudity... Only bikini-clad women or perhaps lingerie.
This information also concerns 1 website within the "UNUSUAL SITES" Menu, called "Cartoon Basement" - located within the 4th sub-menu. The requests that we have been receiving by some of our Gadgetbar users is to help identify those few websites by warning users ahead of time which website(s) has or even may have adult advertisements. Not only have we now already been able to accomplish that for all of you, but we have also moved all such offending websites containing adult advertisements to the bottom of whichever menu or sub-menu that they were already listed in. Although MTV does not actually have any adult advertisements, they do sometimes use adult language on the site. Thus, they were given one asterisk to notify those who do not wish to expose themselves or their children to such things.

In addition, the link for "Live TV Online", located near the bottom within the 3rd submenu also does not have any adult advertisements - but does offer one link to what is identified as "Adult TV". Therefore it has been given one asterisk. To be more specific, the TV/Movies Menu of the Gadgetbar may not truly have exactly 150 website links - but close to it. Here is how you may identify any websites that were reported to be using adult advertisements (for your reference)...

ANYONE CAN NOW IDENTIFY THAT A WEBSITE POSSESSES "ADULT ADVERTISEMENTS" BY LOOKING TO SEE IF THE "NAME" OF THE LINK HAS 'ASTERISKS' (An asterisk is a little star symbol that looks like this * ) BEFORE & AFTER THE LINK NAME. THE NUMBER OF ASTERISKS BEFORE OR AFTER REPRESENTS THE APPROXIMATE AVERAGE NUMBER OF ADULT ADVERTISEMENTS THAT THE PARTICULAR WEBSITE MAY HAVE. Some of the websites that have been marked this way - may not even show an adult advertisement your first visit there. It may appear after clicking on a link within the website or it may appear as some advertisements can change their appearance after a short period of time viewing any particular web page.

Please allow us to clarify how the system works; For example: If you see only one asterisk ( * ) before and after a link name, then there is most likely only one adult advertisement that you might see on that website. If you see five asterisks ( ***** ) before and after a link name, then there is most likely five adult advertisements that you might see on that website. This way, those users wishing to avoid viewing such advertisements or wishing to protect and exercise greater control over their children will be able to identify the websites that carry one or more adult advertisements by how many asterisks you see before and after a link name. Since this is all that was requested of us to perform - we assume that this then addresses the issue, resolving and providing the solution that has been requested by many Gadgetbar users. We apologize for any inconvenience and are always happy to help and assist you. If there is more we can do, please let us know. We thank you greatly for your continued communication!!!!!!!!

The illustrated "links" listed below are not real. They will not lead you to any websites. It is only a sample illustration of what the Gadgetbar's TV/Movies Menu looks like. There is usually an icon, followed by the website's name (Or Link name as described above), followed by a dash and a short descriptive of the website or what it offers. For those with adult advertising, asterisks will also be shown before and after the website's name
(Or Link name as described above). Below is a plain representation of a menu which is meant for you to use as a more illustrated example of how to identify a website with possible adult advertisements:

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
   -  Click here to protect yourself or children from websites with Adult Advertisements.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
   * Cool Free Movies * - We list cool, free movies on our website. Click to visit us.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
   Free Movies 4 U 2 C - At 4 U 2 C, we take requests of all kinds. New releases!
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
   **** Do U Like Shows 2? **** - U like Shows 2, we upload 100 movies/day.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
   ** C U at the movies ** - Welcome to C U! New releases posted ASAP!
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

As you can see from the illustration above, "Cool Free Movies" has approximately one adult advertisement that you may see if you decide to visit their website to watch the shows they have there. The "ONE ASTERISK" which can be seen before the link name as well as the "ONE ASTERISK" that can be seen posted after the link name identifies that there is approximately one (1) adult advertisement. At the link, "Free Movies 4 U 2 C" - they have no asterisks, so they have no reported adult advertisements. Therefore, you will most likely not see adult advertisements there. On the link, "Do U like Shows 2?", there is reported approximately 4 different adult advertisements that you may see if you choose to visit their website. Lastly, "C U at the movies" link shows that there are approximately two adult advertisements that you may see if you visit their website. The more asterisks you see listed before and after a "link name" ( ***** ), the more possible adult advertisements you might see.

Some advertisments are so small, they are one half inch tall by one inch wide. Some of them are 2 inches wide and 4 inches tall... It varies from site to site - however, 99.9% OF ALL WEBSITE LINKS WITHIN THE ENTIRE GADGETBAR "DO NOT" HAVE ADULT ADVERTISEMENTS AT ALL. In truth, there are very few that do - a few at this time. We cannot control what other webmasters wish to post on their sites, but if it gets truly out of hand and extremely offensive, we will remove the link permanently or until they change their preferences. The only one's that have been noticed have been just the few links within the TV/Movies Menu - and they are now all identified with an asterisk and are posted at the bottom of the menu or sub-menu they were listed within. So, you may freely surf the links within the Gadgetbar without having to see what you do not wish to see or protect your children from what you wish to keep them from seeing.

Now that it is easy to identify and you understand how the system works - you may avoid any unpleasantries at your will instead of being unpleasantly surprised.
